Although the Baudelaire children's lives are very sad - or should I say "unfortunate" - , I love thesestories and I recommend a five - star rating to Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. This book and the rest
of the series are full of exciting adventures, silly jokes, and lots, lots more!!

The Wide Window A Series of Unfortunate Events Lemony Snicket Michael Kupperman 9780064407687 Books Reviews
These books are fun. It's nice to read a book that's obviously been written by an intelligent, clever author.
The Netflix series inspired my kids to read the novels. Great writing, even if a bit dark. The resourcefulness of the children is remarkable!
I read the books awhile ago and now my daughter is old enough to enjoy them. But where is the rest of the series in paperback. I need to buy the rest for her.
"Outstanding" is a term which, when used here means"really, good, great, entertaining - and more than initially meets the eye." Be sure to read the dedications - and as the volumes continue what, if anything, did Cout Olaf have to do with Beatrice? Why is the writer "compelled" to write this tale?I am sure the answers to these questons will be revealed as the saga continues... For me, money very well-spent for an entertaining, well-written, totally-original two hour read. Those of you who haveread the books will understand the structure of my first sentence.
Since the Netflix version has been out my young teenager has been interested in reading the series. I am happy to buy any book he will read. This arrived as promised.
I purchased books 1-5 on audio tape to listen to with my children while driving in the car. My how time flys when you are hearing about the perils of the Baudelaire children. I notice traffic doesn't bother me half as much while I am listening to these stories. Somethings in life could be much worse than sitting in bumper to bumper traffic.
My children enjoy the stories so much that they don't just want to listen in the car anymore. Every night before they go to bed we listen to about an hour of the tape.
Also, I think my children appreciate me more after they see what a hard life these children have.
I would recommend these stories for older children (older then 7). Younger or overly sensitive children might get scared or become upset by some of the things that happen.
The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket was a wonderful novel. The vocabulary that the author uses can be uncommon, which allows for deeper thinking by students. Many students are familiar with the way in which an author writes a story. This author is able to change things up and require the reader to think more critically. Throughout the book the author uses exemplary imagery in order to portray his views. Snicket focuses on creating an image for the reader. This is useful for students that are mastering the metacognitive skill of image making. The reader is also given the opportunity to use the questioner meta cognitive skill throughout the novel. Snicket provides several thought provoking questions in his writing which helps students begin this process. As a future teacher this series is a useful resource to use. The many features that promote metacognitive learning techniques are what make this novel great.
Although the Baudelaire children's lives are very sad - or should I say "unfortunate" - , I love these
stories and I recommend a five - star rating to Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. This book and the rest
of the series are full of exciting adventures, silly jokes, and lots, lots more!!
